Community organizers Senti Sojwal (AAFC), Salonee Bhaman (AAFC), and Maryam Mohammed invite you to a talk circle (facilitated discussion with an emphasis on creating brave space + exploring complex feelings) to explore the election of Kamala Harris as our nation's first woman and POC VP with Ethel’s Club. Kamala Harris' political ascension is undoubtedly historic but for many progressives, she doesn't share our values with her history as a tough on crime prosecutor whose actions have harmed many families of color and criminalized Black and Brown youth. We want to explore questions like, how do we deal with the complex perils of representation here while honoring this historic moment? What are the responses from our families? What could this mean for our communities moving forward, and what are the political possibilities here?
